Ο Χιλιανός εικαστικός και μουσικός Jorge Cabieses-Valdes παρουσιάζει τη ζωντανή περφόρμανς με τίτλο Living Ornaments, στο Underflow.
Ο καλλιτέχνης, του οποίου το πρόσφατο έργο πάνω στην περφόρμανς και τον ήχο διερευνά την ευθραυστότητα των κεραμικών υλικών σε συνδυασμό με εικόνες καταστροφής από τα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης, θα συνδυάσει ενισχυμένους ήχους, παραγόμενους μέσω κρουστών και τριβής, με μια κριτική προσέγγιση γύρω από την έννοια της διακόσμησης (ornamentation).
Ο τίτλος της εκδήλωσης αποτελεί άμεση αναφορά στο Living Ornaments ’79 (1981), το άλμπουμ του Βρετανού μουσικού Gary Numan, το οποίο ηχογραφήθηκε στο Hammersmith Odeon στις 28 Σεπτεμβρίου 1979.

Βιογραφικό Σημείωμα:
Ο Jorge Cabieses-Valdes είναι εικαστικός (MFA Fine Art, Goldsmiths College, University of London), μουσικός (στα σχήματα Tobías Alcayota, Fono Mental, Porcelanatron, μεταξύ άλλων) και Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στη Σχολή Τεχνών του Πανεπιστημίου της Χιλής.
Έχει παρουσιάσει το έργο του σε ατομικές εκθέσεις τόσο στη Χιλή όσο και στο εξωτερικό. Το 2013 προσκλήθηκε στο πρόγραμμα καλλιτεχνικής φιλοξενίας Incheon Art Platform στη Νότια Κορέα και το 2011 στο HIAP (Helsinki International Art Programme) στη Φινλανδία.

Living Ornaments is a live performance by Chilean visual artist and musician Jorge Cabieses-Valdes. His recent work in performance and sound explores the fragility of ceramic materials alongside images of disaster drawn from mass media.
For his presentation in Underflow, the artist will combine amplified sounds produced through percussion and friction with a critical approach to ornamentation. The title directly references Living Ornaments ’79 (1981), a live album by British musician Gary Numan, recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon on 28 September 1979.

About the artist:
Jorge Cabieses-Valdés (Chile, 1978).
Visual artist (MFA Fine Art, Goldsmiths College, University of London), musician (Tobías Alcayota, Fono Mental, Porcelanatron, among other projects) and Associate Professor, Faculty of Arts, University of Chile.
He has exhibited his work individually both in Chile and abroad. In 2013 he was invited to the Incheon Art Platform residency program in South Korea and in 2011 to HIAP (Helsinki International Art Programe) in Finland.
